âRelax,â Derek said. âItâs been less than five minutes. Theyâll come down when theyâre ready.â
âI know,â Michael said.
Derek set out various carabiners, hooks, rings and pulleys on a wheeled trolley so that it was within easy reach while he was working. âSo⦠a married couple?â
Michael didnât say anything, just shoved at the couch to position it for a better view.
Derek paused his preparation to regard Michael. âThey seem nice. Theyâre what â about ten years younger than you?â
âTwelve.â
âRight. He seems⦠protective of her.â
âYouâre surprized?â Michael asked. âHeâs her husband.â
âHe also seems straight.â
âYeah.â
âSo you and himâ¦â
âNo,â Michael said.
âAnd heâs okay with⦠â
âWeâre working on it,â Michael said. âHeâs submissive, even if he struggles to admit it.â
âAnd also straight. I always thought that when you took a male submissive, heâd be either gay or bi.â
âI know.â
Derek shook his head. âYou want what you canât have, my friend.â
âItâs too late; I already want them.â
Derek stared off to the side for a moment, then pulled Michael in for a one-armed hug.
Michael had always appreciated that about Derek. The man was straight; there was no question about it. Yet he didnât exhibit the typical hetero male wariness of contact with gay men. It was probably why he and Derek were such close friends; Michael felt completely accepted.
Footsteps on the basement stairs drew their attention. Judith was dressed in black yoga pants, and she tugged downwards nervously on the bottom edge of her blue spaghetti-strap tank top which barely reached her hips. She looked adorably vulnerable, and Michael wanted to wrap her in a hug to comfort her.
Tristan halted behind her, still dressed in his jeans and T-shirt, although heâd taken off his shoes. He put his arm around her shoulders, and she calmed marginally. Derek flashed him a raised eyebrow before addressing Michaelâs subs.
âTristan, I hope you donât think youâre getting suspended wearing jeans,â Derek grinned.
âNo, thanks,â he said. âI donât even know what Iâm agreeing to,â he said.
âYou donât want to be tied up and lifted off the ground?â Derek asked.
âItâs like that scene we watched at Angelus,â Judith said softly. âThe one where that woman looked like a dreamcatcher.â
Tristanâs eyes widened. âOh! Youâd like to try that?â
âI donât know,â Judith glanced at Michael, then quickly looked away. âI might be too heavy to lift.â She muttered.
âExcuse me, you think Iâm not strong enough to lift you?â Derek asked in mock-outrage.
âI donât knowâ¦â
Michael shared a look with Derek. See what I mean?
âI bet I can lift Tristan.â Derek countered. âHe outweighs you by what, twenty kilos?â
âJust about,â Tristan smiled. âAlthough, I think I outweigh you too.â
Derek looked him up and down. âMaybe; I think we probably weight about the same. What do you say, Tristan? Show your wife how itâs done?â
Tristan looked between Derek and Judith. âAlright,â Tristan said. âI do this, and you follow, Sweetheart?â
She bit her lower lip. âAlright.â
âOkay,â Derek said. âThen strip, so we can get started.â
Tristan raised an eyebrow at him, and Derek glanced at Michael. âI thought you said heâs a submissive?â
âHe is,â Tristan said.
